Long-time readers may remember this post where one of the junior high girls in my youth group laughed at me for never having had a girlfriend. Well, here's part two, from Richard's blog chronicling a conversation between himself (R) and his mom (RM):
RM:does bob have a girlfriend?
R:haha... no... he's lived at home with his parents for quite some time, remember?
RM:who says you can't have a girlfriend and live with your parents?
R:because no girl is going to like a boyfriend who does that!
RM:you're just being silly
R:*racks head*
R:the bible says so...
RM:WHAT?!?!?
RM:where?
R:genesis
RM:you mean where God says a man must leave his mother and father to become tied to another woman?
R:EXACTLY! if you don't leave your mother and father, HOW CAN YOU EXPECT TO BE TIED TO ANOTHER WOMAN?
RM:tis a shame you bought that king james bible; i thought you were going to get smarter
...
Hm, good thing I moved out eh? Haha...

Judges 21
20 The leaders told the men of Benjamin who still did not have wives:
Go to Shiloh and hide in the vineyards near the festival. 21 Wait there for the young women of Shiloh to come out and perform their dances. Then rush out and grab one of the young women, then take her home as your wife.22 If the fathers or brothers of these women complain about this, we’ll say, “Be kind enough to let those men keep your daughter. After all, we couldn’t get enough wives for all the men of Benjamin in the battle at Jabesh. And because you didn’t give them permission to marry your daughters, you won’t be under the curse we earlier agreed on.
23 The men of Benjamin went to Shiloh and hid in the vineyards. The young women soon started dancing, and each man grabbed one of them and carried her off.
That was most definitely not a happy time in Israel's history ... in fact it was quite a sad time, as by the end of Judges, the Israelites showed they were no better than Sodom and Gomorrah.
That Richards is danged clever ... hahaha.
