This jacket cost how much?

I was at Bloomingdale's today with Shal to return something, and on our way out the door she showed me the price tag on a rather mundane-looking Polo jacket that was on the "Sale" rack.

It cost $895.

It was marked down from its original price of $950.

People really pay this much money for fashion? It boggles my mind...

'Course, how much different is it than dropping lots of dough on electronics or other material goods, or spending inordinate amount of time and energy on things like sports or other hobbies? Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Out of curiosity, how do you differentiate between wise investment of resources and superfluous use of time/energy/money on things?
